What was left behind is more than a prescription. It is a compassionate heart, passed down through generations.

Having seen patients treated dismissively, he decided to become a doctor who would never dismiss a patient.

Physician Wong Shook Phing (1917–2006), from Taishan, Guangdong, lost his mother after she was treated dismissively during an illness when he was eight. He resolved to study medicine, setting himself two standards: sound knowledge and compassion.

He did more than see patients. He helped build people and institutions for TCM in Malaysia.

The most difficult diagnosis of his life

In 1984, he became his own patient.

Two coronary arteries, each 100% blocked

After a heart attack, surgery was considered unsuitable because of his age and the degree of blockage. He did not treat his own experience as an answer for everyone; he returned to pattern differentiation, observation and record-keeping.

His body as the subject of study

Using Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang as a basis, he took treatment daily and recorded his response, gradually establishing the research foundation for Huo Xue Bao An Dan.

Established the spiritual and clinical foundation through TCM practice, teaching, community clinics, cardiovascular research and academic sharing; co-founded Qing An Dispensary in 1978.

Former President, Chinese Medicine Association

Second generation: continuing the practice and formulas

Physician Wong Yoke Chun

Deepened her father’s experience through hepatobiliary research, and continued and refined Qiang Xin Dan, Ping Gan Su and Jiang Tang Cha; took over clinic operations after 2006.

Co-founder, Qing An Dispensary

Third generation: connecting tradition with today

Ms Cheong Sze Ying

Has made traditional experience understandable for today’s people since taking on brand management in 2011, developing online consultations, educational content and new service spaces.

Three Generations

1935-1944

Entered the Guangdong Institute of Chinese Medicine in Hong Kong

Studied TCM systematically and graduated in 1938. Served as a prison medical officer in Guangdong for three years amid wartime upheaval.

1954

Long-term volunteer work at the Chinese charity clinic

Served for 21 years, including eight as director.

1965

Deputy President, TCM College

Contributed to college affairs and training for 34 years.

1978

Qing An Dispensary officially established

Co-founded with his daughter on 19 September. Qing An means “celebrating peace and safety”.

1984

Heart attack

Used pattern-based treatment rooted in Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang and documented his daily response.

1986

Returned to practice and researched Huo Xue Bao An Dan

Continued to develop his experience into formula and clinical research.

1987

Became president of the Malaysian TCM Practitioners’ Association

Served two terms until 1999, for 12 years in all.

1992

Presented a paper in Beijing; appointed visiting professor

Attended the International TCM Cardiology Academic Conference.

2000

Huo Xue Bao An Dan formally launched

Years of assessment, documentation and formula research became a more convenient product format.

2001

Physician Wong Yoke Chun launched modern Liver Tonic Pill

She introduced a modern herbal formula that was easier to store and take, continuing the family mission of making TCM more practical and accessible.

2002

Established an owned premises and R&D foundation

Qing An Dispensary acquired its own Pudu premises; Peace-One Enterprise (Malaysia) was formally established for herbal health-product R&D.

2006

Physician Wong Shook Phing passed away

He passed peacefully at 89, leaving a precious legacy of care and healing.

2016 - 2018

Second generation continued the healing spirit

Physician Wong Yoke Chun took full responsibility for clinic operations and launched additional products including Gluco Lower Tea.

2019

The new site officially opened

The clinic relocated from Pudu to Old Klang Road and opened on 16 November.

2020

Online consultations launched during COVID-19 movement controls

Video consultations helped patients obtain professional TCM care from home.为响应政府在新冠疫情期间实施的行动管制令(MCO),黄叔平中医馆推出了在线视频问诊服务,确保患者即使在家也能获得专业的中医治疗。

2022

Brand and products received recognition

Received a “trustworthy brand” award; Qiang Xin Dan received a Malaysian health-brand award.

2023

Forty-fifth anniversary

An in-person celebration, “Compassionate TCM, a Century of Inheritance,” honoured the founding physician and the mission carried forward.

2024

Moving into more everyday settings

Expanded Heal Ark, entered Central Market and held wellness-festival markets.

2001
