Mr. Wong Shook Phing

In 1938, Wong Shook Phing graduated from the Guangdong TCM Research Institute in Hong Kong.

Driven by compassion and purpose, he began a journey that would one day become a family legacy of healing.

1940

He taught gynecology and herbal formulas at Lingnan TCM School in Hong Kong for a year before returning home due to the Pacific War.

1944

He was appointed by the Guangdong High Court as the medical officer of Guangdong Third Prison, serving for three years.

1948

After the war, he returned to Hong Kong and soon qualified as a resident physician at Tung Shin Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

1953

He was appointed as the Head of Internal Medicine at the hospital.

1954

He volunteered for 21 years and served 8 years as director at Zhong Hua Free Clinic, offering free care to the underprivileged.

1955

He was among the first appointed

lecturer at Malaysia's first TCM college

established to train future TCM practitioners.

1965

He was appointed

Vice Dean of the Malaysia TCM College

assisting in its administration and nurturing new talent for 34 years.

1965

He was invited to serve as a resident physician at "Pak Cheong Tong" on Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur.

He resigned after completing his tenure at Tung Shin Hospital.

1970

He was invited to serve as a resident physician at “Yik Sang Tong” on Jalan Pudu, consulting two hours each at both herbal halls in the mornings and afternoons.

1978

Mr. Wong Shook Phing founded “Ching Ann Medical Hall Sdn. Bhd.” (meaning “celebrating peace”), now known as “Wong Shook Phing Health Centre.”

1982

Mr. Wong was hospitalized for a sudden heart attack and diagnosed with myocardial infarction, with coronary artery blockages of 100%, 100%, and 80% in three vessels.

1983

Following his doctor's advice, Mr. Wong temporarily stopped practicing and used his own blood-activating and stasis-removing herbal formula to treat himself.

1986

After successfully recovering through self-treatment, Mr. Wong resumed his medical practice and began developing the formula for Huo Xue Bao An Dan.

1987

Mr. Wong Shook Phing was elected as the

President of the Malaysian Chinese Medical Association.

1992

He was appointed as a visiting professor by Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (formerly Guangzhou College of Traditional Chinese Medicine).

In October, he was invited to present his paper titled “Self-Experimentation Report on Treating Coronary Heart Disease with Blood-Activating and Stasis-Removing Therapy” at the International Conference on TCM Cardiology in Beijing.

After flying to Jinan and climbing over 400 stone steps, Reaching the top of Mount Tai felt like nothing but a light workout.

Invited to attend the 2nd China Guangzhou International Conference on Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he presented his paper:

《Clinical Report on the Efficacy of Chinese Medicine in Treating Coronary Heart Disease.》

1999

He was appointed as the Dean of the Malaysia TCM College by its Board of Directors.

In his later years, Mr. Wong semi-retired but continued to see patients part-time.

After completing his term as President of the Malaysian Chinese Medical Association, he was appointed Honorary President and Special Advisor.

2000

Wong Shook Phing’s flagship product, Huo Xue Bao An Dan, was officially launched.

To date, it has helped more than 19,772 individuals improve cardiovascular well-being.

The Wong Shook Phing Medical Anthology is a curated collection of Dr. Wong’s medical reflections, published research, media reports, and significant moments from her lifelong dedication to TCM.

2001

Building on her father's legacy, Dr. Wong Yoke Chan launched— a modern herbal formula that offers easier storage and usage for patients, continuing the family mission of making TCM more practical and accessible.

To better support patients with more severe cardiovascular symptoms, the enhanced Huo Xue Bao An Dan – Strong Formula was introduced.

It has since helped more than 42,200 individuals regain better health.

2002

Ching Ann Medical Hall Sdn. Bhd. purchased its own property in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

Peace-One Enterprise (M) Sdn. Bhd. was established, focusing on the research and development of herbal health products.

2006

Mr. Wong Shook Phing passed away peacefully at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of love and healing.

Since then, his daughter

Mdm. Wong Yoke Chan

has fully taken over the responsibilities of running the TCM clinic, carrying forward her father's spirit as a devoted healer.

2016 - 2018

Dr. Wong Yoke Chan completed development and launched Hua Tan Wan (stopped), Yi Shen Dan and Blood Sugar–Lowering Tea.

2019

On November 16, the clinic relocated from Pudu, Kuala Lumpur to Old Klang Road and officially began operations at the new location.

2020

Launching Online Consultations During the COVID-19 Movement Control Order

In response to the government’s Movement Control Order (MCO) during the COVID-19 pandemic, WSP introduced online video consultations to ensure patients could still access professional TCM care from home.

Through virtual sessions, patients were able to communicate directly with physicians, while herbal powders were delivered by post — ensuring continuity of care and access to essential remedies during a time of limited mobility and uncertainty.

Today, WSP serves clients from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, the United States, and Australia.

Many of them consult Dr. Wong Yoke Chan through online consultations.

2021

WSP began partnering with livestream platforms to reach a wider audience with real health needs — helping more people understand the importance of Traditional Chinese Medicine and long-term internal regulation.

45th Anniversary Celebration

To celebrate its 45th anniversary, Wong Shook Phing organized an offline event themed “A Benevolent Heart in TCM, A Century of Legacy”, honoring the compassionate spirit of Dr. Wong and the brand’s mission to carry that legacy forward for generations to come.

The event also featured nostalgic games and street-style lucky draw activities to engage the local community.

A Younger Brand Team, Reaching a Younger Generation

To break the stereotypical image of TCM among younger audiences, the Wong Shook Phing brand began actively engaging in on-ground campaigns and boosting its social media presence.

By entering the lives of the younger generation, the brand aims to help more youths experience and appreciate the unique value and charm of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

This initiative led to growing engagement and positive feedback across online channels.

2024

Launching “Heal Ark” Wellness Studio

Heal Ark is the first self-owned wellness concept space under Wong Shook Phing Health Center. It is dedicated to combining Traditional Chinese Medicine therapies with modern wellness practices in a personalized, immersive experience.

A space designed for both physical relaxation and mental relief.

Heal Ark focuses on individual needs, offering personalized therapies to ease fatigue and tension — helping guests recover, recharge, and reconnect with themselves, both inside and out.

WSP now at Central Market

Wong Shook Phing has officially entered Central Market — a historic landmark also known as “Pasar Seni,” celebrated for its vibrant cultural fusion and tourist appeal. This marks a meaningful step in establishing the brand’s presence on an international stage.

The presence offers an opportunity to share Dr. Wong’s 60+ years of Traditional Chinese Medicine wisdom and her signature herbal formulas with a global audience.

First Wellness Market

Wong Shook Phing hosted our first Wellness Market (养生节) and held the official opening ceremony for Heal Ark, expanding WSP’s services into holistic wellness and therapeutic treatments.
